about
I've had some of my best conversations with total strangers about food — what they grew up eating, what they miss, what they can't stop thinking about. It's rarely just about the food. Celebrating it in images — the culture, the craft, the people behind it — is what drew me to this work and what keeps me here.
Two things started at the same time and never really separated: serious photography and serious restaurant work. At California College of the Arts, a rigorous fine art education rooted in the West Coast and international photo scene shaped my aesthetic sensibilities and how I think about narrative. The restaurants taught everything else: a deep understanding of food and craft, how to talk about it, and a sense of hospitality that still informs how I work with clients today.
That combination led to a long chapter building visual worlds for food brands from the inside. At Sun Basket I joined in the earliest days, when the company was still taking shape and no creative infrastructure existed. Over several years as Photo Director I developed the brand's visual language, built and led a full in-house photo team, designed and ran a production studio, and directed campaigns, partnerships, and editorial content at scale. At Good Eggs I brought the same attention to a different kind of volume — thousands of product images alongside meal kit photography, seasonal campaigns, and brand collaborations, always with the goal of making the food feel as alive on screen as it did in person.
Alongside all of it, food has remained a constant obsession outside of work too. I travel constantly for food — following ingredients, chefs, and regional traditions wherever they lead. I cook obsessively. I also have perhaps an unhealthy amount of cookbooks that are crowding me out of my kitchen.
Now I'm bringing all of that to a freelance practice focused on editorial and food and CPG clients who want images with some depth behind them. Based in San Francisco, available everywhere.
If you're here, I'd love to hear what you're working on.
